The CPC Foothills EDA represents the grassroots efforts of the Conservative Party of Canada in the Alberta Foothills. “EDA” stands for Electoral District Association, defined by Elections Canada as an association of members of a political party in an electoral district. As the CPC Foothills EDA, we work with voters and Conservative members in the Foothills to ensure that their voices are heard by the Conservative Party of Canada and represented in the House of Commons.
John was elected as the Member of Parliament for Macleod in a 2014 by-election and was re-elected as the Member of Parliament for Foothills in 2015. John is honoured to serve his constituents as the Shadow Minister for Agriculture, Agri-food and Food Security as a member of the Official Opposition’s Shadow Cabinet under Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre. John also served as the Shadow Minister for Interprovincial Trade, Workforce Development and also Labour.
John balances his time between meeting with constituents in Foothills, parliamentary work in Ottawa and travelling across Canada meeting with farm families and agri-food businesses. Having the pulse of the food production industry is imperative and Conservatives worked hard to defend Canadian producers. John spearheaded legislation including Bill C-234, to exempt the carbon tax from on-farm fuels, Bill C-275 to protect biosecurity on farms and opposing ideological policies like fertilizer and pesticide reductions, fertilizer tariffs and nonsensical red tape.
Through hard work and determination Conservative MPs have held the Liberal-NDP to account focusing on critical issues like affordability, axing the carbon tax, stopping crime, and defending our resource industries like energy and agriculture.
First and foremost, John’s top priority is being the voice of the people in Foothills. His voting record and interventions in the House of Commons clearly demonstrates his commitment and dedication to his constituents, his support for rural and Southern Albertan way of life, businesses and industries without compromise.
“Having the confidence and trust of the constituents of Foothills is something of which I am extremely proud and earning that trust and support every day is of the utmost importance to myself and my team.”
John, and his wife Louise, raised their family in Foothills and call High River home.
